Vitalik Buterin
Vitalik Buterin is a Russian-Canadian programmer and co-founder of Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. Born in 1994, Buterin is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the blockchain space. He initially became involved in the crypto industry through his work as a writer for Bitcoin Magazine, where he explored the potential of blockchain technology. Dissatisfied with Bitcoin's limitations, Buterin proposed the idea of Ethereum in 2013, a blockchain that would support smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps) beyond simple peer-to-peer transactions. Buterin’s vision for Ethereum aimed to create a "world computer" that could serve as the foundation for a wide range of decentralized applications, from DeFi to NFTs and more. Since Ethereum’s launch in 2015, Buterin has remained an active thought leader and developer, contributing to the platform's evolution, including the recent transition to Ethereum 2.0 and the implementation of the Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism. Vitalik Buterin’s contributions have shaped much of the cryptocurrency and blockchain landscape, making him a central figure in the development of decentralized technologies.
